This is a good illustration of how so much of AI theft isn't indirect (ie, data sucked into a model to train the chatbot) - it's actually **direct** copying, but *enabled* by GenAI. Of course it is: chatbots absolutely suck at creating good, new stuff.

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

Yes. Wanting to study illustration & comics in the 2000s was difficult because all art schools (in my country at least) shared this disdain for figurative art. I’m also certain that part of the success of generative AI is related to this disdain for skill and the glorification of the idea.

Elven "Art Nouveau" plant-like motifs symbolize their link to woods. Kokiris play a similar role in OoT lore. I’m more skeptical about the (shinto?) knots on Link’s head and tunic (they look better on Saria's shoulders). But I like that their tunics look like woven plants, which fits their lore.
