actual thing that very nearly happened to me today

i try to tell people that maya doesn't actually crash that often, it's usually cause you're doing something stupid and you eventually learn what stupid things crash it but having to reimport my mesh as an fbx to fix a really weird crash from just constraining a joint is. uh. Testing that belief

here is an example of what i mean. i'm biased and in very stylized lighting all day every day, and interiors generally don't have this issue. but like. i swear for daytime exteriors these remakes just stick a single, white directional light in the scene and call it a day. it's odd

also am i insane or do these remakes never use colored lights except for time of day or diagetic lights? the specular and reflections always feel stark white, so everyone is in local colors and the palette doesn't feel cohesive. colored lights would bring every color closer to each other
