At one point DO made some amount of sense in their pricing, I fear those days have ended.

Also apparently running Kube infrastructure in Toronto is like 30 dollars more expensive than the US options? But this isn't the case for droplets or app platform.

DO bandwidth pricing between their products feel like they were determined via RNG. What do you mean a droplet gets 500Gb/month, but an app platform instance only gets 50.. but a kube node gets 2000; all of equivalent size. Wat.

So I should have been more clear I guess, she passed about 6 months ago now. I'm just missing her a lot tonight. Thanks for the words though.

There are only 2 locations I could find in Winnipeg offering them, supposedly others are getting them in a week or two. Hopefully you can locate some soon.

Think I've decided to play through all the Kingdom Hearts games when they launch on Switch 2 in a few days. My kitty who passed earlier in the year adored that game, but I never played it. Have been missing her a lot lately, think it'll be fun to play through them for her with her baby brother.

Inktober Day 4: Smack My late cat Abby loved to smack around Gatorade lids. I started off by tracing her paw print and then built the rest of the picture around her toe beans. #inktober2026 #kitty #drawing #art #inktober

A drawing of a cat paw smacking an orange Gatorade lid.

You ever show up with your project for class and some kid did such a better job that you wanted to just throw yours away and start over? Anyway I hope that’s how trunk-or-treat promoters feel when they see this.

People are like "we can't have mob justice," and instead call a number that dispatches a paranoid domestic abuser with a badge and entitlement issues.

And any time I mentioned this, an event organizer would jump in my replies and tell me "Actually no, we just accept the best most specialist people and that just happens to repeatedly be our staff!" I can tell you from doing run reviews, this is nonsense; and it's the excuse every event uses.

Seeing the event I wasted a couple years helping have a substantial part of their roster *again* be staff, is just.. unsurprising. Be cautious of events that exist primarily to promote the people running it, and not the charity they support.

Funny how event organizers always manage to accept their own runs for events. One thing I was thankful for working on InfoSec cons, this behavior was considered pretty gross and people just didn't do it. If you reviewed talks, you didn't also get to make sure your talks were in.
