One of the downsides to socialized medicine is that the state REALLY wants to skimp on medical care, and the media is in their pockets.

The financial incentive in the UK is to do as little diagnosis and treatment as possible, especially if/when a disease or disorder will not be cured/is lifelong.

I was diagnosed with CFS, renamed ME, wait for it… in 1983, after a very severe non-mononucleosis EBV infection, that fully incapacitated me. The EBV laid dormant, but reared its ugly head during my infection w Lyme/Babesia complicating a full recovery. TY for this story @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

I’m only seeing people with ME or Long Covid sharing this. If you’re not affected, can you please read it & share? Ableist propaganda goes viral all the time, which encourages outlets to publish more of it. Can we please make the truth go viral instead?

If folks need an impression of how dismal things are wrt treatment of ME and LC in the NHS, you just need to look at the services stocktake that was done in January 2025. There was "no data" for ME/CFS clinic referrals.
Annex 1 - Data Dashboard - Long Covid ME/CFS Stock take December 2024.

Highlighted box shows that there is NO DATA for total referrals to ME/CFS clinics for the period examined in the stocktake.

This is *pretty* good info, but if you’re going to send your kid back without serial testing to make sure they’re covid neg, or if they still have any symptoms of any infection, you should be sending them back in a mask if they’re old enough to handle wearing one.

You can submit a comment here by tomorrow/Friday: forms.cloud.microsoft/Pages/Respon... Info on the reorganization: www.niaid.nih.gov/about/niaid-... Comment template from SolveME:
I'm writing as [a person with ME/CFS / a Long Covid patient / a caregiver / a supporter] to ask NIAID to slow down this proposed reorganization of the Division of Clinical Research. Consolidated clinical research infrastructure is what turns discoveries into treatments patients can actually access, and millions of us living with [ME/CFS / Long Covid] are counting on the clinical trials NIAID supports, including the Long Covid treatment trials now underway. Please extend the public comment period so the public can review the full plan, and please protect the coordinated clinical research oversight this division provides. [One line in your own words — who you are, and what waiting for treatment has meant for you or your family.] Thank you.
