As Canada is learning (the hard way), the "art" of all of Trump's deals can be summed up in a single word: "renege": pluralistic.net/2026/07/22/t... 1/
A Canadian flag, its elements replaced with circuit boards. In the foreground, a bent-double, exhausted Uncle Sam trudges over rocky terrain, shlepping a giant sack on his back. Centered in the maple leaf is the word SORRY.

The best time to have made Canada digitally sovereign would have been *before* an American president announced his intention to annex Canada and began explicitly deploying America's tech companies to attack his geopolitical adversaries. The second-best time is *now*. 52/

Strange that this article - including its “88.39 to 91.44 m slit” - doesn’t mention well known facts about maintaining a body of water, with which we are all familiar now. Stuff like darkening the floor and causing more warming which promotes algae growth. Why leave this out?

The rules. My @smh cartoon.
Four frames. Title: “The rules”. Albo and Penny Wong at a lectern. 1. Albo: “Some of you have asked if rules still apply, so we’d like to clear things up.” Wong: “Obviously we shouldn’t kill!” 2. Albo: “However, if you hurt or kill someone and enough people agree they were bad, then the rules aren’t up to us.” Wong: “It’s a ‘matter for them’” 3. Albo : “Also, if you get someone else to do the killing for you and someone accuses you of it, that’s ‘a conspiracy’” Wong: “Against the rules!” 4. Plus, if thousands of innocent people get killed when you kill the bad person, you must focus on the six people you saved.” Wong: “That’s the rule!”

Frame 1: Fellow holding IPCC report. “Science says we must act NOW to save the planet!” Below, same fellow lying down legs crossed, writing asterisk on paper from off stage. “But business and politics mean we just put an asterisk in the legislation.” Frame 2: Same fellow, holding page with FOI, NACC ets, says, “A healthy democracy requires transparency and accountability….” Below, bent over backwards, “still, it might destabilise the nation if they knew what govt got up to.” Frame 3: fellow holding bible, “God says every life is sacred and we must not kill…” Below he strikes an awkward pose, “But God wants us to BOMB the CRAP out of those barbarians.”
