Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 03/07/2025I am glad to hear things are better than they used to be. Before this law, in a cafe, I was once asked to breastfeed in the toilets as someone had complained. Said I would, as soon as the complainer ate their lunch in the loos. Wasn't bothered in there after that! 020

Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 11/04/2025This time last year my brother was still alive. I could have given him a call. I didn't though as how could I have known that in a few days from then he would die a horrific death trying to save his son. I will regret not speaking to him more until the day I die. 440

Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 10/04/2025I'm not convinced they aren't evil - just not in the way we were taught. 010
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 10/04/2025Just remembering how we were taught in church that computers were evil and part of the mark of Satan. My childhood really was batshit. #Exvangelical 250
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 09/04/2025He is at the age where he is mostly made of limbs of indeterminate length. Added to the overactive oaf gene we have in our family it makes for a heady concoction of physical chaos. Both frustrating and hilarious in equal measure 000
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 09/04/2025I think it's the lack of willingness to ask for help with it too. We think we should be able to do it because we have been quite self resilient generally, but nothing in our childhoods prepared us for this. It doesn't follow the rules we learnt for assessing print media. 010
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 09/04/2025I think there's also an argument for having had an analogue upbringing but dealing with digital and social media. Many of our generation don't want to admit they need help with online interpretation and take things at face value. But yeah, probably mostly lead poisoning. 110
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 08/04/2025He has just come to me on his way to bed, given me a big hug and said "I love you Auntie Petra" and my heart completely melted. 110

Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 06/04/2025Playing UNO with him today. He has so many of his dad's mannerisms. It took me right back 30 years to playing cards with my brother. The word bittersweet has never felt so apt. 140
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 05/04/2025I have just spent quite a bit of time trying to explain that computers were not necessarily connected to the internet when I was his age. He wanted to see if the little games his dad wrote for the Dragon 32 (I think) were in the app store. 120
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 04/04/2025A few weeks ago I had very little knowledge of tariffs and how they work. This was clearly Somebody Else's Problem. *sighs wistfully 010
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 04/04/2025This is all the more poignant when you know that it was his dad - my little brother who died last year - that taught me how to read a simple program when we were teenagers. Now I get to pass that on to his son. 060
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 04/04/2025I have just confounded him by finding the error in his scratch coding. He is amazed that I would know such things. I like to be the auntie who does and knows the unexpected 330
Petra Phoenix @petraphoenix.bsky.social · 04/04/2025My nephew is with us for a week. He loves to hug people, but only once he has decided you are one of his people. Last time he was here for the week I got one hug. I have already had several in the last 24 hours. Life is not all bad. These moments are beautiful. 1110
