Yesterday I went down to meet LA Mayor candidate @nithyaforthecity.bsky.social in person. Her platform is essentially "get sh*t done," which I appreciate. And I spent time with her husband and parents. You can feel her momentum growing here in LA.

I love that we'll see Tadej rooting for the women at TdFF. One of my favorite things about this season.

"The Women’s World Tour is sleepwalking into the same broken economic model that has plagued men’s pro cycling for decades." Joe Laverick and I wrote about what we're seeing at pro bike races around the world. And the opportunity for women's cycling. medium.com/@peterabraha...

LA28 has just announced the Olympic and Paralympic triathlon routes which will start on the beach itself (this is different from other recent games where the start is on a pontoon) and wind through Venice Beach. Here's the Guardian story: www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/s...

And within soccer there are another 10,000 niches

Peter Abraham @peterabraham.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

In some ways, yes. It’s a big niche, but still a distinct category with its own fans and media channels.

I was just talking to a friend about our always-on media culture, and how culture has evolved into millions of niches. I wrote a blog post about this: peterabraham.medium.com/the-nichific...

The Nichification of Sports (and everything)

We’re now in the era where every sport not named the NFL or the NBA is a niche sport.

Today I attended a Zoom call with LA Mayor candidate @nithyaforthecity.bsky.social. I got to ask her about bike infrastructure. She had a good answer (about importance of connected networks) and supported the HLA measure approved by voters. cc @lintonjoe.bsky.social @awalkerinla.bsky.social

Wow. Maybe $25,000 of income to cover that, after taxes.

I'm surprised Nithya does not quote you from this post!

She does a good job of laying out the costs, but she does not detail the incremental increased benefit--hotel nights, restaurants, sales tax, etc--that the City of LA would receive with a bigger convention center. Her argument is one-sided.

I was interviewed by CBS News today about the work I’m doing with People for Bikes to improve bike infrastructure in LA. As proven by London and Paris, more bike lanes = safer roads for bikes, pedestrians and even cars. And better air quality for all.
