#WIPSnips -Tangled Web (TaMB 3)- After the inciting incident, but still early in the book, we get some set-up for Cat's more normal personality. And yes, this does lead up to some older snips related to the hoodie. My Books: pjccahill.carrd.co

Cat pulled it off. She successfully guilted her poor mom into letting her keep going to Portia's store. The whole neighborhood was rough, she would look out better, turn around if she saw any strange people loitering, and it was better than being completely alone at home for hours until her mom got off work.
Yes, it was a dirty trick, but it worked. She knew her mom felt bad about leaving her alone, and if she wasn't so desperate to keep access to Portia's shop, she would've eased off.
Finding the store -- called The Book Parlor, in fact -- busy was a mixed blessing for Cat. She was glad Portia got business, but it meant it would be louder, even in her favorite corner.
Cat was distracted glancing toward the children's section, seeing several kids and their parents talking and messing around.
As a result, the hole in her hoodie sleeve caught the door handle, and she only realized it when she was yanked back and heard the tearing fabric.
Cat had to stop herself from wailing in dismay. There was the karma for guilting her mom so bad.
Immediately tearing up, Cat whimpered pathetically as she got her ruined sleeve off the handle to let the door shut at last. She exhaled in despair as she saw the now hand-sized hole torn down her sleeve.
A small hole was one thing. This was a gaping tear. Her mom would never let her be seen in THIS. It was her lucky hoodie!
Nevermind all the terrible things that kept happening while she wore it, it felt better.

“I see you found a way to give us a show.” Fiona said approaching as Vincent put his jacket back on. Vincent wore a cream colored clawhammer jacket and matching cream breeches. His boots and his shirt were a warm coffee brown.

“It’s a shame about your shirt,” I said.

“I disagree.” Fiona said.

“Do you now?” Vincent grinned. “What about you Amy? Are you enjoying the show?”

Amy blushed, “I’m not, that is to say, I’m not looking away.”

“What are you three doing here?” Leon asked as he walked over to join us. “I mean, you’re allowed obviously. That’s fine. You can be anywhere you want. ”
