I see this on loop: A community service is largely funded by government & user contributions. But underfunded because governments are shit. Fossil fuel companies become sponsors & act like saviours (while actually not paying tax and wrecking the joint). We can have nice things without them.

Climate activism isn't my hobby - it's more like a chore. Sometimes I try to make it fun, but just because I enjoy listening to podcasts while I do the laundry doesn't make folding socks my passion. My real hobbies are talking about Baby Sitters Club books and making bags out of netball bibs.

London Science Museum cuts links with BP after decades of partnership
Campaigners say ‘seismic shift’ follows years of pressure to sever ties with oil and gas firm The London Science Museum has ended its decades-long partnership with the oil and gas company BP in what has been described as a “seismic shift” for the museum. The Science Museum Group academy, which was established in 2018 to provide training and resources, announced on Friday that it would be ending its partnership with BP. In a statement, the director and chief executive of the Science Museum Group, Sir Ian Blatchford, said the partnership had “drawn to a close at the end of the current contract term”. I wrote a book featuring a body in the library fully aware it was a crime fiction trope. I've since learned more about it. Bodies in libraries have been a feature of crime fiction for at least 100 years - well before Agatha Christie's 1942 stab at the cliche, 'The Body in the Library'.
