Maybe this is just me, but if I'm ordering a sandwich platter and I say "no pork please", I don't mean "load me up with ham".

All due respect to the trendy eateries of Melbourne, but it shouldn't be easier to buy your merch online than to find your menu. Feed me, THEN I will consider a tote bag.

I feel like I’m the only TV watcher looking at Last Seen and asking why all these Australians have handguns.

I love the NZ practice of opening business letters with "Tēnā koe" instead of a "Dear [title which can be in error] name" situation. Wish that was me.

Okay. I'm going back to the optometrist. Pray for me. Actually, maybe pray for the Specsavers staff. I feel a Karen incident coming on.

Okay, the optometrist was a bust (I have to go back this afternoon!) but at least the MRI tech saw a lot of current inflammation on my ankle.

Matalas' proposal to get Raffi and Seven back together in a hypothetical spin-off being one step shy of DADT is reason enough to keep him away from Trek. No, I don't want to see the queer couple forced to keep their relationship secret for the sake of their careers, you tone-deaf twit.

I think it all plays perfectly into the underlying message of the entire season: What if we were different writers who didn't have to make Star Trek episodes.

Anika points out that this season has been full of duplicates, illusory/dream selves and split screens, and surely it means SOMETHING. But what? We are genuinely unsure, and also not certain we want to rewatch to figure it out.

Getting ready to query so I converted my MS into an ePub for a final read - I hoped this would help disengage Editor Brain. It must have worked because I found myself thinking, "Gee, this is bloody good, who wrote it?"

My ankle was FINALLY strong enough to let me take a walk at lunch, so I popped around to the Le Creuset store. The Star Trek collection is unbelievably ugly IRL, I'm glad I didn't have the money to impulse purchase anything.

Guess who has a PERFECTLY HEALTHY COLON and also gastritis, can't forget the gastritis, now to wait for my GP to get the full report
A stylised illustration of a stomach surrounded by flowers. The colours are all pastels. The text, inside the stomach in a 1960s hippie font, says, HOT GIRLS HAVE STOMACH ISSUES.

As foreshadowed: the season finale ALSO has this plot, but it finally works because it's Uhura herself forcing her to confront her issues (which boil down to worrying that she's not getting an A in being a well-rounded adult - relatable). It gets around the passivity problem.

Now I'm safely home and can do the alt text, I can share the absolute shocker of the official PTV app recommending we go home from the Museum via the Skybus (privately run, expensive) rather than the trains (running just fine, thank you).
A screencap from the PTV app showing that our suggested route home involved taking a tram, and then taking the SkyBus from the city to Avalon Airport to Werribee RSL, then working seven minutes to our actual destination, the train station.

Not about the SNW finale: I think it's very funny when people accuse the big Star Trek news sites of only giving positive reviews to retain access to screeners, because I have not had a good thing to say about SNW since episode 8 of season 2, and Paramount doesn't care.

BETTER IDEA: prestige streaming series. Millie Bobby Brown plays Carrie Fisher. Season 3 covers that time George Lucas made Marcia postpone their divorce until Return of the Jedi was released.

What's interesting about this is that most of the people who love AI Google are substantially older and many are past retirement age. But who knows if that reflects the answers or the editor's preference.

I know I joke about being the whitest person alive, but lunch today was really taking the piss.
My lunch today: ham and sweet mustard pickle on white bread, a cup of melon, a bar of white chocolate and a can of sparkling lychee and coconut water.

My GP called (!) after 5 (!!) to say my X-ray results finally came, and showed nothing abnormal, so she sent those through along with a referral for an MRI. Genuinely impressed; I have always liked this clinic, but now I'm like, I can never leave Werribee because my doctors are so good.

Prepping for a medical procedure on Monday that will have me on a clear liquid diet on Sunday. So I spent a fortune on bone broth, flavoured mineral water, apple juice and sports drinks. Way more than I'd normally drink, but ... I don't actually like broth.

This is an extraordinary act of direct foreign interference by the US embassy in domestic Australian politics. The Australian government should publicly respond by rejecting efforts by the US embassy to dictate how Australia legislates for a digital duty of care.
