Another comment on this: Unless specifically designed to be, a #PbtA game is not played as a "GOTCHA!" game where the GM is there to screw with the players. BE A FAN OF THE PLAYERS' CHARACTERS is a foundational sentiment in Apocalypse World and #PbtA only really works if that's in the MC's heart.

Storytelling is ancient, and there are so many storytelling traditions that we can use techniques from to be better players and performers. Improv and theatre are not the end all be all for ttrpg storytelling.

I agree, but (and nuance is bad on twitter-likes) I do mean the bigger shows. Even at the topmost echelons of AP, resources are tight compared to mainstream media operations and most shows seem to be pretty risk averse.

Near as I can tell, a lot of this is because it's easier/safer to work with your friends/those you trust. Vetting people is expensive, and most AP operations are shoestring even if they are flying people out for a session.

As someone who has frequently been on the "trying to start a business in a low-margin market" position before, the line between "ragtag bunch of freelancers" and "solvent company" is *perilously* thin. But if you've got your hand out, you should explain why, imo.
