The scale of deforestation in the Congo Basin is staggering. It is estimated that an area larger than the size of Germany has been cleared in the past two decades alone. This rapid loss of forest cover has far-reaching consequences for the global climate and biodiversity.

Ideas Germany once needed a war and total defeat to bury: racism, the belief in superiority and a hierarchy of who really belongs, contempt for who doesn’t, a hunger for enemies dressed up as pride. It's not a regional problem. It’s a national one, and it should frighten every single German citizen.

Important short thread from @ayoub.bsky.social. I would add that asylum seekers and refugees coming into the UK are managed and treated in ways that create problems, thus sowing further fear and division. It looks like the systems were designed this way to have this effect. We must change them.

The vast majority of people who ‘debate’ immigration have no understanding of the phenomenon they’re ‘debating’. Just look at the people who voted for leaving the EU thinking it’ll mean better control over the UK’s borders and therefore fewer brown migrants and asylum seekers. They had no idea.
