Have a podcast? Want to start one? The show.fm 'Founders' offer is three years of our Studio plan. It includes podcast hosting, analytics, and some AI tools for managing episodes. There's way more as well. We'd rather be funded by 100 podcasters than one investor. show.fm/founders

Distribution has become the new moat. coding has become much easier so plenty of new apps, plugins, Saas etc but its difficult for them to get attention. Marketing was always harder than development and it remains the case.

Gutted not to get tickets to see #RogueTrooper during the #BFIFilmFestival this year - three screenings were clearly not enough for the demand... 😢 @manmademoon.bsky.social - are there plans for a wider distribution?

Bottom panel is a similar image, a tiny "close ad" button in relation to the fingertip labeled "my finger" which fills nearly the entire panel.

It’s very different because of there not being a challenge mechanism. Basically the VAR will have told the ref there is something to check.

And make sure that we provide every type of attendee with something to take away - whether you're a beginner, an expert, a plugin author, a marketer, an agency, a content admin. Fill their days. Give them a reason to attend. Ensure that they can't NOT attend.

Paul Halfpenny @paulhalfpenny.com · 01/06/2026
There are so many applications turned down for speaking slots each year. I know people that have had to apply multiple times to get on the stage - why not just schedule more sessions? Run them shorter if need be; most sessions don't need to be 40 mins in length anyway.

Paul Halfpenny @paulhalfpenny.com · 01/06/2026
Personally, I am less bothered about the location and more worried about the content. It needs to be ramped up by a factor 2-3x. And it's possible to do this.

Paul Halfpenny @paulhalfpenny.com · 01/06/2026
If WCEU wants to reverse attendance figures and continue to lead the conversation, I think it needs to consider what conference attendees want and need right now.
100
Paul Halfpenny @paulhalfpenny.com · 01/06/2026
That's three times the amount of content for attendees. Sure, it's more expensive to attend, but the amount of value you get out of it is hugely increased.

Compare the schedule with BrightonSEO for instance - an equivalent-sized conference, held twice yearly (in the same location, and now also in San Diego) - brightonseo.com/events/apri.... The most recent event had over 180 sessions over two days.

2. For a major conference, WCEU just doesn't have enough sessions
110
Paul Halfpenny @paulhalfpenny.com · 01/06/2026
And whilst it is good that the conference rotates host city, allowing us to explore new places, it's a different approach to other major conferences where this just doesn't happen - which leads to challenges of awareness, access and more difficulties for attendees.

Paul Halfpenny @paulhalfpenny.com · 01/06/2026
And a couple of things strike me. 1. WCEU doesn't always help itself with the choice of locations I felt that attendance in Switzerland was in part due to the cost of the country. This isn't a reason not to host somewhere, but I think it had an impact.

Block Format Bridge: A Practical Solution for AI-Generated Content in WordPress
Chris Huber, developer at Automattic, released Block Format Bridge, an open-source plugin that addresses one of the more persistent friction points in AI-assisted WordPress workflows: getting AI-generated content into the block editor reliably. The plugin takes a pragmatic approach. Block markup is notoriously difficult for AI to produce correctly — not because AI models lack capability, but because of how the format works.
