George Farkas, my coauthor on Households, Employment, and Gender has died of brain cancer. He studied what helps kids learn, his rigor matched by his deep caring about poor kids being able to learn reading better. He taught me the uses of FE models. RIP, my friend.

Authorities in Tanzania stopped reporting COVID-19 cases very early in the pandemic, and stated that virus had been “eradicated”from country. An interesting serosurvey shows that SARS-COV2 kept spreading widely despite these official denials. www.ajtmh.org/view/journal...

I wish more donors, legislators, and other external observers decrying the alleged homogeneity of thought at universities understood that many (most?) faculty will defend students' right to peacefully protest even if they think some or all of the students' demands of the university are misguided.
