One of my biggest pet peeves in comics is that they don't print the variant covers inside the book. The last page should be a little gallery of all of the covers for that issue. Both for traditional comics and things like Heavy Metal.

I've had an ex libris stamp for a couple years, but I'm finally getting over my nerves about "ruining" a book if I use it. It was an especially stupid concern considering most my books were bought for <$10 used, so it's not like they have much resale value anyways.

I had this idea from reading the elizabeth holmes mouse post and then I couldn't do anything else until i painted the idea to completion

The science didn't have to be wrong though, being correct wouldn't have changed the film in any way. They obviously did enough research to understand the basic concept of siRNA, but didn't do enough to really get it. Suspension of disbelief shouldn't excuse lazy screenwriting.

It's not borrowing from scientific concepts to explain the science wrong. Borrowing from scientific concepts is saying that siRNA infused with gamma radiation makes it suppress hulk mutations. It's not borrowing to say that the problem with siRNA is that it is non-selective for specific genes.

If they had just said it was an inhibitor using siRNA I would have been fine. It's the fact that they went on to explain what siRNA is wrong where I have an issue. Again, I'm complaining about the fundamental science, not the technobable of adding gamma radiation to the siRNA.

Did you read that screenshot before you posted it? "Made-up scientific sounding words". siRNA is a real and well understood concept. At a high level it can do what they employ it for in the movie, which makes it worse that they couldn't do the extra research to make sure they get the other details.

The new Spider-Man is pretty good from a superhero movie perspective, but really bad from an RNA biology perspective. They act like it's hard to silence a specific gene using siRNA rather than the whole reason it's used. Not to mention that they misunderstand the relationship between DNA and RNA.

When I started grad school at OSU there was the Save the Crew push and you saw Crew gear and colors everywhere. By the time I graduated it felt like the only time I saw stuff about the crew was driving past the stadium. It always surprised me how quickly general support for them fell off.
