It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.
Nichole Hiltz
The Democrats defend the Kennedy Center but not trans people.

maybe because defending everything about a super small minority of the population is not worth losing to fascists

Incredible chart from @propublica.org. If you don’t follow enviro stuff closely, your instinct might be that the hold-your-nose solution (carbon capture from fossil fuels) would be the “pragmatic” one versus covering Earth in solar panels, which seems utopian. In fact it’s the opposite

Hello #portfolioday, I'm Bison a woodcarver from France ✌️ I take commissions, and would love to work on team projects. 🐙 bisonrimant.fr ✉️ bisonrimant@gmail.com
4 pictures of différents woodcarvings

Top left : Woodcarved humanoid octopus wearing a robe, arms wide open, in front of a book standing on branches. On the book, a frog. On the right arm, a kinfisher, and on the top of the head of the octopus, a round duck. The base is burn, on that angle it is not really obvious but is water with a slight wave form arround the octopus. On the background, an old door with old white paint.

Top right : Woodcarved creature (Siren Head) with very long skeletal arms and legs, also too many ribs. Its head is a pole with two speakers and wires. Those speakers have teeth. On the highest speaker, a nest with a pigeon. Siren Head is extending its left arm, point a finger forward. A pigeon sits on its index. Caption says "Based on Siren Head by Trevor Henderson"

Bottom left : Woodcarved humanoid goose wearing plate armour. She's holding a shield and a flanged mace. On the handle of the mace, a red robin landed. The eyes of the goose are made of glass. The feet and the beak are painted in burnt yellow, as the breast of the red robin. The upper part of the robin is painted in brown/grey and its eyes and beak in black.

Bottom right : Woodcarved humanoid crow wearing a hooded cloak, shoulder armor. It has its right hand on a sword. A squirrel is climbing its left arm. On the base, a cat is resting.

Here are 543 images (1.5GB) of items at the Philadelphia Museum of Art arms and armor exhibit You're free to use them for anything, even commercially. I tried to focus on details not usually represented in available reference material drive.google.com/file/d/1NRzg... Here's a small sampling:
A closeup view of an ornate cuirass and tasset, showing heart-shaped designs along the edges of the metal panels. An extremely ornate ceremonial halberd head showing etched and blackened designs with various plants, mythical creatures, and heraldic designs.A closeup of the shoulder intersection of the cuirass, pauldron, and bevor of a piece of 1500s field armor. Some ornate etching of the crucifixion is visible in the lower right corner on the cuirass.

Getting around to framing some of my art buys from #ECCC, finally! Prints by Bottling Sunshine, Taejin (x2), and @keezyyoung.bsky.social
A girl in a bedsheet ghost costume with angel wings and halo levitates over a pentagram with diarrhea of melting wax candles. Framed in a black burnt wood frame, floated on a pale yellow bottom mat and raised-sink black suede top matA series of pale, desaturated violet and blue mermaids on a black background. They're all carousing or having judo practice or something? Pale peach suede bottom mat, light purple silk thread top mat, in a black frame with silver pin stripping with a silver filet Fant art of Hades 2 featuring Melinoe surrounded by some of her supporting cast (and Eris lol). Pedestal mounted on a stone textured black mat, with a gold frame and black detailing. The artwork has dramatic lighting from the right side, and the framed piece is lit from the right so the framing matches. In person it really pops I'm very chuffed with how this one turned out can you tell?Illustration of a woman with a unicorn horn sitting on the ground with her ball gown pooled around her. There's blood on the point of the horn and some drops on the dress beneath it. White birchwood textured mat with a black rope filet around the art. The frame is a flat charcoal black. It's sitting on a sandstone mantel piece beside a bong repurposed as a vase with red flowers, and between two chunky white candles on black candle holders

Smart Glasses are probably nearby
Device: Unknown
RSSI: -42 dBm
Reason: Meta Company ID (0x058E)
Company: Meta Platforms, Inc.

This app notifies you when smart glasses are nearby. It uses company identificators in the Bluetooth data sent out by these. Therefore, there likely are false positives (e.g. from VR headsets). Hence, please proceed with caution when approaching a person nearby wearing glasses. They might just be regular glasses, despite this app's warning.

IF YOU'RE UNEMPLOYED IT'S NOT BECAUSE THERE ISNT ANY WORK
JUST LOOK AROUND: A HOUSING SHORTAGE, CRIME, POLLUTION; WE NEED BETTER SCHOOLS AND PARKS.
WHATEVER OUR NEEDS, THEY ALL REQUIRE WORK.
AND AS LONG AS WE HAVE UNSATISFIED NEEDS, THERE'S WORK TO BE DONE.
SO ASK YOURSELE, WHAT KIND OF WORLD HAS WORK BUT NO JOBS. IT'S A WORLD WHERE WORK IS NOT RELATED TO SATISFYING OUR NEEDS, WORLD WHERE WORK IS ONLY RELATED TO SATISFYING THE PROFIT NEEDS OF BUSINESS.
THIS COUNTRY WAS NOT BUILT BY THE HUGE CORPORATIONS OR GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRACIES.
IT WAS BUILT BY PEOPLE WHO WORK. AND, IT IS WORKING PEOPLE WHO SHOULD CONTROL THE WORK TO BE DONE. YET, AS LONG AS EMPLOYMENT IS TIED TO SOMEBODY ELSE'S PROFITS, THE WORK WONT GET DONE.

While defending the luddite argument in Discord, I stumbled into this IMO succinct explanation for opposing generative AI: At every step in the process, it impoverishes us.
AI impoverishes us at every step of the process:
- data centers pollute our environment
- energy use drives up costs
- content theft robs creators of income
- the actual output is used to displace workers and depress wages
- using it harms our mental health and impairs our competence
- the flood of AI slop is damaging our sociopolitical landscape

All in service of making a worse product - and world - to enrich a handful of already spectacularly wealthy people

Clean up your links before you share them with others. It's a small and simple piece of operational security that anyone can integrate into their practice.
HEY YOU! YES YOU! TAKE THIS SHIT OUT OF LINKS!

example.com/article?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=emai

/youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=Aa1Uc_fRHXC0ay85

The portion following the question marks are source identifiers.

Source identifiers are used to track your activity on a site. Where you came from, what device you use, and even who you talk to. Whether it's written clearly in the url or tied to a random string of characters, it's assigned to your activity.

When you send a link containing a source identifier to somebody and they click it, it signals to the website that you two are connected. And that data goes right back to the website operators, and thus their advertisers.

Whenever you select "share" or "copy link" on a social app or website, it creates a link like this. If you give even the smallest shit about online privacy, it's important to remove them. Everything after the "?" symbol can be removed without issue, especially sections starting with "si=" or "utm_source="
