Bah, after rotating the bits I was working on by "which needs to sit and cure" all day... running out of costume progress I can make without buying more primer, aside from the really tedious stuff I don't WANT to do... Maybe time to go for a walk (and hope the sun doesn't make my headache worse)

Wowwww. Cactpot was nice to me tonight. Of my 12 characters, 5 won 4th prize, 1 won 2nd prize. :D (Naturally the character who is least likely to ever want fun Gold Saucer stuff... it was the Hardin alt. XD) Lots of costume stuff accomplished too - sandals are wearable after I sew one last thing!

Okay. Made it to craft store to pick up order. Barely. But since craft store is right next to World Market, made myself stop there too, they've been hyping their holiday arrivals. Extra energy I didn't have, but I now can reward myself for the BS with peppermint or gingerbread syrup in my coffee.

Or not because I woke up before my alarm went off due to spasms so severe I couldn't move or breathe without agony. Mostly subsided now, but not sure I should risk driving in case it hits again... But no one was answering their phone when I tried to cancel. So... 🤷

Firmly reminding myself that very few people will probably even know/notice the parts that are imperfect/not 100% accurate about this, and even if they do, they won't care. so tired of trying to do things "despite the pain", I just want to DO THINGS. And not have pain. And maybe actually "enjoy" doing something for the first time in years as opposed to "endure" doing something and the positive emotion being pride in my fortitude for doing it even though it hurt.

Also in costume news, hooray, being a Karen averted. I ordered a buckle on the 20th and a couple days ago was like "...how is it still 'preparing for shipping'?" Considered emailing. But then thought hey, maybe they only ship 1-2x a month or something. So I waited for Oct. 1st. Just got email. :D

lol, nailed it on the estimate. Just took a second to actually measure and "yeah I ideally need 2 lengths of 11in, so 22in. Could get by with 10, so 20in minimum." I have 17in left, so the +4 is right in the middle of my two potential measurements. (Either way I need to buy another package.)

Glad I went out on "lunch break" yesterday to get more spraypaint so I could finish spraying the red bits last night, because it rained all day today... but the clearcoat is brush-on and I could do that inside. :D Also formed/sealed the base frame for the goggles, ready for next spraypaint weather.

I feel like I'd be pretty good at FF14's mahjong game if I could figure out how to call a winning hand when I have one. I keep getting hands that LOOK valid, but the only thing it lets me do is discard, and then I get a penalty for discarding a tile that could have been used in a winning hand...

*indecision paralysis* I clearcoated the front of the aetherometer thingy last night, am waiting for adhesive to dry on the pin on the back before clearcoating the back side. Hemmed the cowl. Cast a couple more sets of resin ornaments, including the accents for the sandals. So many things left...

The discourse on this reminds me of how I saw Weird Al note during an interview that he hasn't released an album in years in part because everyone is listening to their own curated playlists and there are not really "megahits that everyone knows" to make parodies of anymore. Ah yes. Before I got wigged out by the cat, treats for the buns. I happened to see a late-blooming dandelion in the yard as I was pulling into the driveway earlier, and that had to go to Sage. In a few days, it'll be 8 years ago she came to live with me - and she was already 4 and a half.

Orange man is a moron. I've been glad I bought a hybrid since my first one over a decade ago, within a year I was never going back. Right now I've never been gladder, and kind of wish I'd gone with the plug-in model*. Last time I bought gas it was a dollar cheaper, and I still have half a tank left.

...May have made a small miscalculation, normally I hit Dollar Tree for cheap foam sandals I can repurpose as soles for custom cosplay footwear. It's too late in the season and they don't have sandals. o_o Swear I'd bought them in January on the way to MAG before... So, clearance at Meijer.

Aaaaaalmost finished with the painting and detailing, should be able to start applying layers of clearcoat tonight. :D Which should make the resin lenses go from "frosted glass" to just "glass" - resin reacts so well to clearcoat. (May have just bought a box of tiny screws while I was at the store)
