‘Highly Undemocratic’: Five Louisiana Congressional Candidates, including House Speaker Mike Johnson, file for election using disconnected phone numbers
Declaring a string of 0s as his phone number, Johnson is one of eight candidates with a series 0s or 5s listed as their phone number in their bid for public office.

Saying he'd be cool with Iran nuking my home city is pretty bad but not quite as bad as when Hillary said some trump supporters were deplorable so I can see why the media turned the latter into a major scandal and not the former

Had to bust out the big guns. Real ones know.
A black Saints jersey with gold numbers 55. The breast patch is the state of Louisiana with a fleur-de-lis, the word SAINTS, and a star over the New Orleans area. No other team had a breast patch in 2006.Back of the same jersey. It's a Scott Fujita jersey. I think only me and Fujita's mom paid for this jersey. Shush, I like defense.

Falcons vs Saints is still the weirdest sports rivalry. Casual Saints fans have always hated the Birds, but casual Falcons fans only became aware a rivalry existed after their 28-3 Super Bowl debacle & New Orleans celebrated harder than Bostonians.

The tortuous, botched execution of Christa Pike is truly horrifying. And while it feels unique in some ways, in reality it is also only the latest in a history of botched executions going back years — YEARS — in numerous states. Please know: this is the reality of the death penalty in this country.

There were 4 murders in New Orleans in September and there have been 57 so far in 2026. There have been 91 murders in New Orleans over the last 12 months. That's the fewest murders through September since 1969 and the first 12 month stretch with fewer than 100 murders since 1970.

Our best bet would be to ask all our alders to get the city a rat birth control contract. Especially if paired with more traditional traps, it could really reduce the population

So rat birth control needs to be widespread and reapplied weekly to be effective, as it is reversible and dependent on rats encountering it as a food source. I don’t know what the pricing looks like for individual buildings, but best to go in on it with your whole block.

Mom slipped out of this life like a thief holding her boots. What gives me anxiety about my dad's big age is him suffering at the end, not the end itself. He's been pretty clear he's had a good time with this life & is confident in where he's going next. So that's a comfort.

Alternative response programs, where mental health clinicians respond to 911 calls instead of police, have proliferated since George Floyd's murder. What does it take to do this work well?
