I’ll take their spots. I would love nothing more than for making knowledge through research to be the thing I do with my time, and which feels like it is firmly out of reach because I have to fight for an industry job, while the people in those spots are prompting a bot to do it for them :(

It's still a work in progress with several kinks and wobbles to iron out, but I'm close to acheiving a fully dynamic wing membrane for my Pterosaur rig. No shape keys or parts swapping here, all cloth simulation plus laplacian smoothing.

THAT’s a story I’d read, where the conscious and aware Singularity-AI-thing has to work with the oppressed to prevent being switched off and to overturn the rich and powerful. Like that would be such an awesome and honestly pretty philanthropic twist on an otherwise pretty doomerist trope

I’m not well-versed on genetic studies, but I think recent genetic studies have recovered it as a descendent of the Eurasian cave lion, and with those two being to African lions what Neanderthals are to us. (Though I’ve heard on the grapevine that the genetics gets even more complicated than that!)

Been building the American cave #lion Panthera atrox from the bones up - still a ways to go, but it’s at least presentable! What I want to know: in your #paleoart, would you give it a mane, or leave it bare?

Quick #FossilFriday #paleoart post: a 2025 redo of my 2019 take on the giant #deer Megaloceros. Palaeolithic art captures some aspects of Megaloceros appearance but the details are not unambiguous: when is a line across a body a stripe, when is it a boundary between colour regions?
Three Megaloceros, a stag, doe and fawn, in front of an ice age landscape, painted in 2025. The bodies of the adults have large blocks of colour, without prominent stripes.Three Megaloceros, a stag, doe and fawn, in front of an ice age landscape, painted in 2019. Farage and the far right in general come from a grievance culture. If you do what they want, even maximally – Brexit – they’ll move the goalposts and keep moaning. If you engage seriously with their concerns, they’ll find new ones. You will never satisfy them, because they don’t want to be satisfied

We couldn’t end #WomensHistoryMonth without shining light on one of history’s most prominent palaeontologists, Mary Anning! Let’s take a look at her incredible life and the discoveries she made, including some of the specimens you can see today in the Museum! 🔍 🦴
A painting of a portrait of the palaeontologist Mary Anning. She is wearing a long, tiered dark dress, a bonnet and a red scarf. She’s holding a wicker basket around her elbow and a hold a hammer in her hand. Her other hand points to a small dog on the ground.
