i used to get System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine mixed up with who did which songs. i could blame it on dyslexia but the truth is i was dismissive of both bands till about six years ago. can't imagine what happened there.

a much younger Aestre called Danu sits with Bob the elemental Fae known more commonly as the Salamander of Fire. Bob is admiring a blue dandelion, apparently quite common at this time in early Druidian history.

"no, i suppose not THIS particular dandelion- why? is it special?" Aestre asks a little intrigued.

"no" is Bob's reply.

in a moment of silence Aestre's intrigue disappears as Bob hums a little tune.

"Well, Bob" Aestre starts to get up bored, "if you ever see any yellow dandelions let me know cuz THAT would be a "great wonder""

"Oh that would be pretty!" Bob whole-heartedly agrees tho missing her sarcasm. or choosing to ignore it.

"enjoy your common blue dandelion. i'm going to go find my brother" Aestre says walking away.

"suit yourself!" Bob continues being transfixed by the flowers.

alt-textra: in fiction a blue rose or blue orchid is akin to an impossible thing, but i assure you, you will no sooner find a blue dandelion than any of those because truly blue flowers just aren't a thing. blue pigmants are awful hard to come by in Nature and plants just don't have the energy or resources to produce them.

however, this is a fairytale and it is high time dandelions were given their proper esteemed place in such literature! so enjoy the fact that you are reading a story in which blue dandelions are a major theme. just how important you will later see! important enough that it's the one color i'm allowing in this otherwise monochromatic palette.

"well of course she's left, she'll be alright, she always returns" Aestre tries to comfort Deirdre.

"Deeds? what's wrong?" Thomas tries to ask tho he has missed out on 8 pages worth of context sleeping through the whole blasted chapter.

"No..." Deirdre answers the queen, "no she won't. Not this time"
