I think this is true, for better or worse. I do fear that this will result in more people getting elected who are good looking performers and not as interested in policy. In an ideal world, professional staff would step in to take care of the problem but that raises its own problems.

For the Democratic Party, I think one of the main takeaways is to recruit candidates who have a background in entertainment (even if they were never professional entertainers like Trump and Schwarzenegger). And that being youngish and conventionally attractive matters.
