I realize it often feels like nothing matters anymore, but a comedian going on SNL and calling women whores— calling the ordinary women he sees at the gym *whores* — because of their clothes matters to me. It’s really gross, and I’m glad Levy said something.

As the Trump administration has relentlessly pursued immigrants, federal agents have run roughshod over the constitutional rights of U.S. citizens. We’re showing you every incident we’ve confirmed — along with the receipts: propub.li/3TBuddL
500+ U.S. citizens detained since the start of the second Trump administration. 100+ U.S. citizens held after agents questioned their citizenship. Nearly all of them were people of color. At least 70 American children and teens detained, some of whom were handcuffed. 36 U.S. citizens held for at least a day without being able to contact a lawyer or family.

Ivan Turgenev's "Execution of Troppmann" is a short essay, published in 1870, that gives a first-hand account of the writer attending a public execution in Paris. Turgenev's details how the drunk, unruly crowd turned a somber moment into a carnival. A deeply moving essay; I encourage you to read it.

One of the first things Trump did in Feb. 2017 was set up an office in DHS to *exclusively* publicize crimes committed by immigrants — just as the Nazis used Der Stürmer to publish a special section only highlighting “Jewish crimes.” See this article from 2017: www.thewrap.com/der-sturmer-...
& thewrap.com
But mass-slander-by-anecdote has a long tradition. As The Atlantic explains:
In The Nazi Conscience, Duke historian Claudia Koonz notes that the Nazi newspaper Der Sturmer ran a feature called "Letter Box," which published readers' accounts of Jewish crimes. When the Nazis took power, the German state began doing something similar.
Frustrated by the failure of most Germans to participate in a boycott of Jewish businesses in April 1933, Adolf Hitler's government began publicizing Jewish crime statistics as a way of stoking anti-Semitism.
Trump introduced a new government entity Tuesday that will similarly flag and highlight crimes by illegal immigrants - without, of course, providing any context about how many crimes they commit compared to U.S. citizens, or how illegal immigrants as a group might contribute positively to American society.
"The office is called VOICE - Victims Of Immigration Crime Engagement," Trump explained. "We are providing a voice to those who have been ignored by our media, and silenced by special interests."

Disco Tank Girl with Alex.
The image captures a striking realistic scene, showcasing a woman in a fantastical, futuristic ensemble amidst a multitude of reflective spheres. She stands centrally, facing the viewer directly with a confident and serious expression, her arms slightly outstretched as if in a pose or dance. The woman wears a form-fitting, silver-hued metallic bodysuit or leotard that shimmers under the dramatic lighting. Her upper body is adorned with a dazzling sequined bustier, adding a glamorous texture to her outfit. On her head, she sports a dark, metallic helmet, contributing to a soldier-like or space-age aesthetic. Her legs are clad in metallic, laced boots that match the overall silver theme of her attire. The background is dominated by dozens of spherical, highly reflective objects, reminiscent of disco balls or oversized metallic balloons. These spheres are densely packed, completely filling the space behind and around the woman, extending far into the darkness. Each sphere acts as a mirror, brilliantly reflecting intense red and blue lights that bathe the entire scene. The interplay of these vibrant primary colors creates a high-contrast, neon-like glow, with streaks of red and blue dancing across the metallic surfaces of the spheres and subtly illuminating parts of the woman's body. The ground beneath her is dark, sparsely covered with what appears to be grass or low-lying foliage, which is also dimly lit by the scattered light reflections. The overall atmosphere of the scene is one of a vibrant, surreal, and possibly futuristic party or performance. The dark setting amplifies the luminosity of the metallic elements and the colored lights, creating a strong sense of depth and a captivating visual spectacle. The combination of the woman's bold attire, her assertive pose, and the dazzling, almost overwhelming, environment of reflective orbs creates an avant-garde and energetic mood. A striking realistic scene captures a woman in a dazzling pose, surrounded by a multitude of glossy, metallic spheres. She is positioned centrally, reclining or seated amidst the reflective orbs, with one leg bent at the knee and the other extended forward, her hand resting near her raised foot. The woman wears a form-fitting, shimmering silver bodysuit, detailed with sparkling sequins on the bust, and a dark, possibly military-style, helmet. Her footwear consists of elaborate metallic boots that match the futuristic aesthetic. Her skin, particularly her legs, is bathed in an intense red light, contrasting with the blue and red reflections scattered across the dark, polished surfaces of the spheres. These spherical objects vary slightly in size and fill the background and foreground, creating a surreal and vibrant environment. Sparse dark ground cover, resembling dry grass or leaves, is visible beneath and between some of the spheres, adding a touch of natural texture to the artificial glow. Tattoos are visible on her right forearm and left thigh, adding personal details to her avant-garde appearance. The dramatic lighting, with its strong red and blue hues, creates a dynamic and almost otherworldly atmosphere, reminiscent of a futuristic party or an artistic installation. The overall mood is cool, confident, and visually captivating, with the interplay of light and reflection dominating the composition. The image captures a full-body view of a person posing amidst a dense cluster of numerous metallic, spherical objects, creating a visually striking and surreal scene. The individual, appearing to be a woman, lies reclined on several of these reflective spheres, with her left hand resting on one near the bottom left corner and her right leg bent with the foot placed on another sphere towards the right. She wears a shimmering, light blue or silver metallic one-piece bodysuit that reflects the ambient lights, and a matching, somewhat distressed military-style helmet. Her left arm is adorned with tattoos, and she sports silver, chunky-soled boots with sparkling details. The backdrop is dark, almost black, intensely contrasting with the vibrant reflections on the spheres. These spheres, varying slightly in size, are highly reflective, catching strong red and blue light sources that create intense neon-like glows and streaks across their surfaces. The interplay of these colours on the glossy spheres gives the entire scene a futuristic, energetic, and slightly otherworldly atmosphere. The lighting is dramatic and artificial, highlighting the contours of the person and the spherical environment. The person's posture is relaxed yet confident, contributing to the overall captivating mood. Hundreds of these spheres fill the frame, extending into the background, creating a sense of depth and immersion. The texture of the spheres appears smooth and highly polished, while the bodysuit has a sleek, metallic finish. The overall composition is dynamic, with the person positioned diagonally, adding visual interest against the repetitive spherical elements. The scene evokes a feeling of being in a high-tech or artistic installation, bathed in vibrant, contrasting light. The sharp reflections and deep shadows enhance the three-dimensional quality of the numerous objects. A full-body, high-angle shot captures a person in a striking, futuristic ensemble amidst a densely packed array of shimmering, reflective spheres. The scene is set in a dark, outdoor environment, possibly at night, illuminated by intense, contrasting red and electric blue lights that cast dramatic reflections across all surfaces. The central figure, a woman, is positioned in the lower-middle of the frame, seated or crouching with her legs extending towards the bottom right and her arms outstretched, resting on the metallic spheres that surround her. She wears a form-fitting, silver metallic bodysuit with a shimmering, sequined or jeweled bra top that sparkles under the vibrant lights. A silver metallic helmet adorns her head, adding to the warrior-like or space-age aesthetic. Her feet are clad in matching silver metallic lace-up boots, one slightly lifted as if mid-step or posed. The reflective surfaces of her outfit and the numerous spherical objects create a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, with streaks of crimson and cerulean dancing across the scene. These spheres, appearing like oversized disco balls or highly polished metallic balloons, vary slightly in size and occupy almost the entire background, forming an immersive, glittering wall of reflections. Sparse patches of dark green foliage and dry, earthy textures are visible on the ground directly beneath and around the woman, providing a subtle contrast to the overwhelmingly metallic and luminous elements. Tattoos are discernible on her left upper arm, featuring Roman numerals, and on her right thigh, displaying Greek text. The overall atmosphere is one of bold, artistic expression, combining elements of sci-fi, fashion, and art installation, rendered with a powerful, neon-lit intensity. The composition draws the viewer's eye to the central figure while allowing the mesmerizing reflections to create a sense of depth and spectacle.

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:
Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

In case anyone else needs it, the magic phrase for shutting down men picking apart a sexual violence case by blaming victims is: “The only people who would say something like that are rape apologists, rapists, or both.” You don’t have to argue with them on merit when their claims have no merit.

Human-made over 5 years

No AI has been used to generate any code or content in or about the game, and never will be. Slow Roads has been a labour of love since the project began in 2021, and has been built with a decade of experience in 3D graphics and creative software development. Textures are hand-drawn, sounds are recorded locally, and all systems are designed and engineered specifically for the unique context of the game. This is a solo-developed project that I take great care over, and I believe AI simply doesn't belong in creative projects like these.

Please note that procedural generation is not a form of generative AI; the procedures used to generate the world in the game are mathematical functions that have been derived and defined by hand, with direct creative intent.
