Big Tech’s ambition to build more data centres is putting the UK’s climate targets at risk, and the Government is letting them. It is estimated that more than 100 data centres are planned across the UK, the largest of which would consume more electricity than double all the households in Wales.

Developers’ own figures indicate that emissions from just 10 planned UK data centres will release 2.7 million tonnes of CO² each year, wiping out annual CO² savings from the switch to EVs.
