Personally I think Beau DeMayo did this. He was some kind of perverted sommelier so I could see him doing this. He’s basically a mutant whose power is that he’s way too horny for his own good or anyone else’s for that matter. That’s why they had to put him underground like a Morlock.

When we were watching X-Men 97 my wife pointed out to me that whoever drew Valerie Cooper had it BAD for Doris Burke

I met Todd McFarlane in '95 or '96 at a comic convention. I was in line to get a signed Spawn picture but they ran out by the time I got to him. What did he do? Chatted with me while he drew the iconic Spawn image of him on the church cross. That picture may have been destroyed but the memory lives.

No bigger crisis for the NBA than private equity exploiting its franchises as assets. Even as cost of owning teams inflates, product value will decrease. Think of anything that’s treated as an asset that isn’t supposed to be like housing or utilities. Are they better or just more scarce & expensive?

Really great thread here and this essay is wonderful. It makes me feel more sane for being long repulsed by this ghoul of a show.

It is a performance of joy so excessive, so desperate, that it reveals the void it attempts to cover. It is the logic of the assembly line applied to human connection. What Fallon offers is a standardized production of “fun” that feels increasingly like a desperate plea to ignore the crumbling world outside the studio walls.

Yes. In general I think consensus view of AI should be not as objective digital substitutes for knowledge, work, experience & thought but rather as output devices engineered to filter data through the worldview of their owners. And I think this should be obvious. That’s why every rich guy owns one.
