Apparently they're going with the framing that it's Talarico's fault that GOP operatives made up an insane conspiracy theory without checking on any available evidence. Fox, yet again with the framing that only Democrats have any agency.

i think that the best way the understand conservative legal philosophy is to know that, literally, it was constructed backward from the premise that a Republican president should be permitted to commit crimes against democracy

Oh, *we* know about it. But *Trump* doesn't know about it, because he's spent the last few years carefully surrounding himself with sycophantic lickspittles that refuse to tell him anything that he hasn't already decided is true.

Well, sure, of course. If you were one of the brown-nosing sycophants that surrounded him, would you want to tell him?

James Michner has his limitations as a writer, but his writing is just antithetical to the sort of self-aware snarky ironic sort of fiction, and that's the main reason I love it.

As it's going to pan out, this is just another reason for Mike Johnson to not bring the House of Representatives back in session. Johnson is hamstringing his own branch so that the White House can run amok with no meaningful oversight. The founders would be appalled.

The US is once again blackmailing Ukraine for both domestic political and pro-Russia reasons. This is possibly the worst betrayal of Ukraine so far, and should accelerate Euro-Canadian defence independence from the US.

Note that he doesn't say this about the other President in the conflict. You know, the one that was the agressor. Trump wants a Ukrainian president that is willing to surrender to Putin, because he's on Putin's side.

One thing that it says is that the wealthiest correctly understand that Trump is far more transactional and personalistic than Democrats. There are genuine limits to Democrats' willingness to either punish non-donors or reward donors, whereas Trump does both freely.

Trump announces diesel deal with Russia in bid to lower prices
The amount is small compared with U.S. demand, but the deal aligns the U.S. with Russia and against Ukraine’s efforts to bomb Russian refineries.

Universities bring in foreign students ... to undercut the wages of American residents? What? This is exactly backwards. Foreign students subsidize the tuition of American students. I wonder why the VP who follows Nazis online has this all wrong. Probably an innocent, non-racist mistake.
