Strategically moving bins into the gutter of a road with heavy, fast-moving traffic - Monk Bridge Road - in order to allow schoolchildren to walk along the narrow pavement, one wonders why councils don't simply forbid bins on pavements & thus begin to displace some parked cars

The depths of my ignorance: I'd never heard Andrea Chénier, which is tremendous. The 1955 version from La Scala with Callas (on YouTube) has partially converted me to crowd noise.

There are lots of roads in the Dales which would benefit from this. Access restricted to permit holders and emergency vehicles to showcase the beauty of the area without the hazard presented by motorists.

My nearest emergency department moved away from my large densely populated, not very well-off, low car access town to the fringe of a small, wealthy, high car access town to provide copious cheap parking. I was admitted for two days & I paid over £100 in cabs & no one cares. Parking is £6.20/day.
