I've designed and am trying to mass produce fans for cr-box style air purifiers, which are far far quieter for greater airflow than the usual box fans. About 10% more flow for 1/220 the noise energy (24 db). Www.bigquietfan.com

The government is also, as we reported yesterday, separating children from families in the interior, labeling them "unaccompanied," putting them in shelters, and using payments and coercive memos to get them to give up their legal rights and leave the country.

ICE is now separating children from their parents and deeming them “unaccompanied.”

Heat pumps are pretty awesome but solar thermal is definitely better. So are ervs. Better roi, whether it's dollars or kWh you are after. I'm a way this is just politics, then. I mean it's good that it's kind of aligning with what really matters but it also isn't, is it. Not very well.

Another one to add to the list of studies of CR boxes! The supplemental data includes inferred CADR for each unit deployed as well as sound pressure measurements in two classrooms at several distances.

Dolly Parton seems awesome but I hope she would agree, given her political efforts, that hero and celebrity are not good for the cause of justice or indeed almost anything, in general. Remember the enormous number of invaluable women who toil for the benefit of all without a shred of fame.

After all this time, people still have not even begun to clue in to the reality not only of climate change but more critically the underlying causes of the inaction to address it. The ruling class maintains their grip on both the bodies and minds of the great majority.

I've very nearly run out of stuff to do on the bqf project. We should have started making the molds five months ago or something. I've been able to work around that but it hasn't been very efficient. In maybe two weeks I'll really be reduced to complete waiting.

Yes please do. I noticed there is a very unusual streak of irresponsibility in American culture. But the lunatics are actually your neighbors etc and nobody else can solve this problem. Either you do it or it doesn't get done, and you go down too.

The oil has to stay in the ground anyway. The only thing that bothers me is that the infrastructure in the aggressor country is bound to be untouched.

It never ceases to amaze me how much people complain about the price of oil going up. Unfortunately it's become abundantly clear people are not going to stop burning so much oil without that happening. They've had time, the deadline has long past.

Pilot kit production has begun for the big quiet fan. Pilot means the method will change. The general plan is to keep going and change the approach over time to reduce cost and increase production rate. By subbing in molded parts for instance, that's the first major stop.

I was mocked when I included this IPCC finding in my book, but I do understand that it can seem unbelievable. So I’m sharing it again, in this heatwave, noting also that 3C heating is twice what we have now, and the impacts of global heating are non-linear. #EndFossilFuels
warming. According to the most recent IPCC report, 3 degrees Celsius of heating would mean that, for around three months of the year, the entire East Coast of the United States-from Maine to the Midwest and the Great Plains-and half of California would be exposed to "hyperthermic conditions that pose a risk of mortality." Southern California, the Southwest, the Deep South, and Florida would be this fatally hot nearly half the year.

Probably worth mentioning you can kill everyone in the room before anyone even realizes what's happening if you use too much and/or have sufficiently poor ventilation

Filtering the air may help prevent your own infection from becoming more severe If everyone in a household becomes infected with the same virus, does it help to isolate from each other and can you be a danger to yourself? Read on to find out... 🧪🧵1/ #AirQuality #IAQ #Ventilation #Infection #COVID
This grouped bar chart, titled "COVID Positive Abnormal Chest CT by Air Quality Setting", displays the percentage of abnormal chest CT scans among COVID-positive patients across three different tiers of air quality control. The graph compares overall and asymptomatic cases, illustrating a clear downward trend in the percentage of abnormal scans as air filtration and ventilation efficiency improve from household levels to high-efficiency aerosol control.

Dr. Patricia Bath overcame sexism, racism & poverty and saved the sight of millions of people. She invented the Laserphaco Probe for cataract treatment, 1986; it was patented in 1988. She co-founded the American Institute for the Prevention of Blindness, 1976. She died #OTD in 2019. #WomenInSTEM
A vibrant color historical photograph capturing the brilliant ophthalmologist, inventor, and academic Dr. Patricia Era Bath (1942–2019) in an office or laboratory setting, radiating an aura of confident intelligence and warm approachability. Occupying the center and right of the shot, Dr. Bath sits facing forward, smiling brightly with a direct, engaging gaze at the camera. She is dressed in a professional white medical lab coat—subtly embroidered with "Dr. Bath" in red cursive on the left lapel—worn over a light blue button-down denim shirt and accented by a polished gold chain necklace. Pens are visible tucked into her left coat pocket. Positioned prominently to her right on the left side of the frame is a large, white medical laboratory microscope or ophthalmic imaging equipment with black eye-pieces. The background shows a white wooden bookshelf packed with colorful medical texts, binders, and stacked papers. This portrait carries immense historical significance, honoring a legendary trailblazer in STEM who became the first Black female doctor to patent a medical device—the revolutionary Laserphaco Probe for cataract treatment—fundamentally restoring sight to millions worldwide.

Important #Ebola terminology: “Bundibugyo” is not a strain of Ebola virus—it is a distinct Ebolavirus species, separate from Zaire & Sudan. A species is a major genetic grouping with differences in virology, epi & medical countermeasure effectiveness; a strain is a genetic variant in a species.
