No, OpenAI and Anthropic are lousy with a bunch of weird doomer types. The philosophy is called "Rationalism" and championed by Yudkowsky. One of the core presuppositions is a superintelligent thinking machine is inevitable. So, rationally, making sure AI god doesn't kill us is really important.

I can't take this Amodei essay seriously, since I don't buy his underlying premise (enough words in the word guessing machine = God). But this CCP scaremongering kinda gives the game away. Why will the "good" AI labs "solving" alignment mean that any other frontier lab doesn't screw it up?
