No shit! "Christian nationalists" are the antithesis of what the New Testament teaches. They bang on about "Christianity" and "British culture" while demonstrating they know bugger all about either, nor care beyond using the terms to spread racism and hate. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/o...
Christian nationalism in Britain driven by people who seldom go to church, says report
Research challenges the notion that the growing visibility of crosses and other symbols reflects a revival of Christianity

The all male RSC production of As You Like It was an absolute delight. Jonathan Geoff was charming as Rosalind, the placing of the forest of Arden as Wales and inclusion of Welsh Hymns was brilliant and there's one particular scene that was easily the funniest thing I have ever seen on stage.

In McDonald's (I know, the teeneager is with me) in Stratford while waiting for As You Like It at the RSC and they are playing Paganini. Is this the only Maccies that plays classical music? Very odd juxtaposition.

Went out for lunch today and got shouted at by a very vocal bengal cat who appeared furious that there were people in the car park and they weren't paying him any attention. He got some attention.

Arriving at the Bridge Theatre to watch The Oresteia and they check on the way in that you're aware of the themes. Could be a tough watch... But that is what you expect from a Greek Tragedy, right?

Contrast the police statements about the Dover blockade yesterday with the Just Stop Oil protests in 2022
No arrests made during Dover protest, Kent Police says

13:34 5 September
Kent Police has issued a statement following the disruption in Dover earlier today.
It says officers "responded to a spontaneous protest" during Saturday morning, adding "no arrests were made".
"Traffic is flowing normally, and all involved had dispersed by midday," it addsThe Met Police said 35 people had been arrested in response to the disruption.
Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist said the action was "criminality", not protest, and pledged to bring those involved to justice as quickly as possible.
"This was a very significant and co-ordinated effort to cause massive disruption to the entirety of the M25," he added.

The cats graciously put on a magic show for us last night. I figured out how they did most of the tricks, but I didn’t say anything, because that would have been rude.
Two cats on a platformed tower. One is on the lower level, head hidden behind the middle section. The second is on the top tier with only their head showing.

I'm all for bilingualism, but when 4 phones start screaming at us with a government alert in Welsh before then all screaming at us again a few minutes later with the translation, it's a bit much... Surely it should be possible to send a long enough message to send both languages in one message?

Part of my job involves managing several church and charity social media. Often, I also design what's going out, but sometimes they supply things for me to post. Every time someone sends me an oh-so-obviously AI generated poster for an event to share a little bit of me dies inside.

Since watching Oddysey last night, I can't stop humming 'Penelope, Penelope' from a BBC radio music workshop from the late 1980s that I did with school when I was about 9 or 10. I can only remember about 6 bars of it though. Which isn't bad for something we did over a half term about 40 years ago.
The front cover of An Odd Oddysey. A carton of Odysseus flexing his muscles watched by him men. The cartoon is in 2 colour print - black and red. This is from a BBC archive and not my own photo as, sadly, I don't own a copy or I would be able to find out how the rest of the song went

"By placing Europe at the top centre of the map and vastly exaggerating its size, Mercator created probably the most enduring visual propaganda ever conceived. It's no coincidence that he was fixated on the myth of Europa. The bull, he wrote, 'aptly represents the natural disposition of Europeans'."
