Like microwear analysis? Like Deleuze-inflected theory? Like the Neolithic & Bronze Age? Like hundreds of object studies? Given that is a Venn diagram that doesn’t even include all the authors, probably not. But indulge me & download this anyway link.springer.com/epdf/10.1007...

Congrats to David, a really excellent piece of work bringing archaeological science and theory together, and easily one of the most fun PhD’s I’ve supervised (not least because his main guide @palaeohan.bsky.social kept all the science on track so well)

What is the relationship between kinship and bodies in ancient Egypt? Olabarria (yours truly!) shows that we cannot take our intuitive distinction between nature and nurture for granted and uses the notion of body worlds to shed light on the Egyptian category of ‘bodily son’. #EgyptologyInDialogue

What does it mean to be in dialogue? In what ways can Egyptology constructively engage with other disciplines? This introduction brings Egyptology in dialogue with archaeological and anthropological theory by presenting four key concepts, namely body worlds, relations, comparisons, and negotiation.
