I took an evening class in a dodgy area and I was shocked all the women were all happy to leave the 14 year old waiting on her own in the dark "because she was annoying". And she was not savvy - I told her to text her dad and tell him I would be waiting with her, and she goes "Why?"

Bookstores should also take note. Your Banned Books Week displays can actively, positively impact the livelihoods of living authors whose books have been banned. And it's super easy to avoid including harassers (Gaiman, Alexie) and/or bigots (Rowling) on your displays. Be thoiughtful.
