i wish the post creator on witchsky let you choose your post id instead of just having an option to change the last 6 letters on all of them

I've realized that many people who come across the Shayy situation either don't know them, or do not know the extent of their actions. Some who have seen it have still yet to grasp the severity Because of this, I made a document compiling every post and video I know docs.google.com/document/d/1...

This reminds me of a youtuber I saw once complaining that Garfield Kart would shut down his computer with a controller plugged in and it turns out the problem was that the most upvoted steam config for Garfield Kart at the time was a community config that bound every button to "Shutdown Computer"

good heavens, she's BLOGGING now?? i've been playing around with migrating to independent, open-source social networks for a while now. the tech is really maturing! but the space is still awkward to discuss. i talk about this issue here, and how it applies across matrix, activitypub, and ATproto.

Updated age verification flowchart for easy reference on privacy for each option blog.dootsky.re/age-verifica...

Do you need to verify to access any features?

If no or unsure: No Verification
Pros: Privacy / security, guarantee no additional data sent.
Cons: Features

Use Discord as normal, and you can use Spoiler Channels as alternatives to age-restricted ones, open media externally, or have client mods remove restrictions.
Don't verify if you don't need to, as verifying tells Discord that the Age Verification system works; they'll use it in engagement statistics.

If you need to verify:
Your account could be automatically verified based on account age, payment method, servers you're in, and account activity (NOT MESSAGES).

If it's not, then:
Are you comfortable using k-ID?

Facial Age Estimation
Verify with an on-device model determining your age based on your face.
Pros: Selfie not sent
Cons: Can fail; device metadata shared

Credit Card
Use your existing credit card to verify your age. (via k-ID / Stripe)
Pros: Little data risk
Cons: Req. having and sharing card info
Note: k-ID offers "AgeKey" which lets you reuse these verification results in the future.

Alternatively, does your phone have identification in a digital wallet, or proof of age through app stores?

If so:

Passport in Google Wallet (Android):
Uses your phone's stored passport to verify your age.
Pros: No additional data shared to Discord
Cons: data shared with Google; Android only

Google Play Store / Apple App Store with payment method/identification:
Uses OS-side signals in Age Range to check your age.
Pros: Only shares age range
Cons: Req. verifying on OS, cannot be manually set; mobile only

If those aren't an option, you'll need to submit an ID to k-ID.
Pros: Claims to delete after processing
Cons ID is processed server side

Discord Support Portal isn't offered as an option anymore.
It was offered in the past if other methods failed. This was what leaked.

Note: Sending your ID is a security risk. Consider a previous step if possible, or re-evaluate doing verification at all.

true. i was basically saying if there's a way to get these changes added to regular social-app you should try it

000

Millions @ofplayers.net · 22/09/2026

the 1st one should be pr'd into social-app, maybe if you get it working in regular social-app you could add it into there as well

100

Millions @ofplayers.net · 22/09/2026

maybe it could be replaced by a generic atproto/bsky logo and some generic text saying that you need to be signed in to see this content. kinda like how tumblr does it
