Rhodesia iirc was actually much more subtle about the racism than SA's open exclusion. E.g. they had income and property restrictions on voting as opposed to racial restrictions, which meant that basically 99 percent of black people couldn't vote anyhow.

Far too many people simply hate children for existing
Neighbor blasts an ultrasonic device audible and painful only to children whenever they pass on the public sidewalk.

Was riding bikes with my daughter and a friend to school this morning. We passed a house and they both started yelling, "Ow! It hurts my ears." Really strange, right? Then I hear a voice play through a speaker who says, "If it hurts your ears, ride your bikes somewhere else!"

Now I'm angry. Literally doing nothing but riding bikes to school, probably one of the most wholesome activities a person could imagine, and...I can't even get my brain around it.

It's apparently not loud, but it is tuned to a frequency higher than I can hear. If it's low enough for my children to hear it, it's going to be almost useless as an animal deterrent. It is specifically designed to cause pain to humans and serves no other purpose.

How is this legal?

Location: Minnesota, Twin Cities suburb

A lot of rich guys want you to think that the bar on the right is always going to be bigger than the bar on the left.
Vertical bar chart titled "Norwegian wealth tax revenue, change from 2021 to 2024," in billions of Norwegian kroner (BNOK), nominal. Subtitle: top rate 0.85% to 1.1% and stock valuation discount cut from 2022.

Two bars. "Growth with no emigration": 13.71 BNOK, a tall bar. "Lost to reform-driven emigration": 0.65 BNOK, a barely visible stub, about one-twenty-first the height.

Notes: Growth includes the rate and valuation changes and wealth growth. Net of tax that emigrants still paid, the reform-driven loss is 0.49 BNOK.

WHOA. This is big news. Mr. Soliman is a 31-year-old gay man from Egypt who came here at 3 with a green card. He lost his green card after a conviction, but an immigration judge found that he would be persecuted in Egypt and barred sending him there. He's locked in a hotel in Equatorial Guinea now.
A federal judge has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to return Ahmed Soliman to the United States, five months after he was expelled to Equatorial Guinea, a country where he has no ties, in a decision that could have far-reaching implications for thousands of others subjected to the Trump administration’s third-country removal scheme.

Arizona District Court Judge John C. Hinderaker, a Trump appointee, ruled that DHS violated the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment and “must facilitate Plaintiff’s release from custody in Equatorial Guinea and return to the United States and must ensure his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to Equatorial Guinea.”

I think you'd have to consider counterfactuals here. Women who earn high income also forego larger amounts of income and if people have non homothetic preferences, richer women will also tend to prefer greater leisure time that would have to be foregone

I imagine that 1.) Demand for children is a kinked curve over male share of household labor where =50% labour is disproportionately higher than 30% and 2.) The foregone income for women from having children is also much larger than most benefits or maternity pay

At its base its probably very heavily due to the fact that children are an immense time investment that eats out all leisure for all two parent families.

A new Handbook of Evolutionary Psychology has just been published, in which it is claimed that the human species is polytypic: not only is race biologically meaningful but the races are distinct enough to be considered subspecies. Published by Elgar. In 2026.
Chapters in Part III take stock of the current state of evolutionary psychology, by casting wider attention to other social and behavioral sciences and assessing the field's influence on them. In Chapter 11 ('Evolutionary psychology and anthropology'), Heiner Rindermann identifies three major forces that oppose scientific anthropology: Religion, National Socialism ('Nazism'), and woke leftist ideology. Ironically, in this sense, woke left ideologues, who include most anthropologists themselves, geneticists, and other university academics, share much in common with the Nazis in their common opposition to scientific anthropology.
Rindermann's extensive review of the literature leaves no doubt that humans are genetically polytypic and contain different biological races or 'subspecies' At the end of the chapter, Rindermann delivers devastating rebuttals to all potential arguments against the notion of races/subspecies among humans.

I guess I don't buy that. A HANK household is not a representative agent, MPCs can differ fairly radically and in innovative ways that can be affected by macro factors like inequality and public debt (which is the P-K stuff I mentioned in OP!). I'm not sure if its a patch or a change in direction
