iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Gods, I cannot believe we are STILL doing this. I've run smack first into "you don't need to transition to be soooo VaLiD!!1!" crap, in some form or other, since I first transitioned nearly 18 years ago. And yet, here we are.

actually this gets its own skeet: i think we should get more extreme about punishing rapists since apologists always act like we executed the guy even if all we actually did was tell him how disappointed we are in him. if it's gonna be treated like extremism anyway we may as well not hold back.

Every time cis people want to indulge in the TERF wizard series they go to the trans people in their lives seeking penance like we are the catholic church selling indulgences and if that's what you want, just give us some money instead of expecting it for free and let us be tired in peace

Most of the talk about forgiveness and restoration is really about convenience. You don't want the hassle of kicking the sex pest out of your spaces, you don't want the Inconvenience of having to find a new video games youtuber to watch, so the onus is placed on people who have been hurt to forgive.

reclaiming transsexual responds to the changing political arrangement of gender and sex and the reversal of gender’s relationship with the patriarchial order. sex, not gender, is the site upon which the patriarchal order is fortifying itself. transsexual attacks that retrenchment. from an essay:

It is presupposed that, without gender, sex would collapse, for
gender realizes and (re)institutes over the lifecourse what medical knowledge-power states at one's earliest moments. Gender is the reiterative performance one assumes to maintain one's sex assignment and to behave in accordance with the societal imaginaries, fantasies, dreams, and wishes implied by that sex. Gender operates, at least normatively, to materialize the patriarchal order's power to determine the identity of the subjects it governs, with the hope also of determining how they exist socially, politically, and economically.
However, gender also implies doing gender differently: abolishing gender came to mean, instead, flouting sex/gender's asserted determinism rather than ending it completely as a cultural relation and embodiment. Feminist, queer, and trans politics and cultural life over the last three decades generally followed the premise that not all ways of doing gender reinstate patriarchal power: just as not all ways of doing femininity instate subjugation, not all ways of doing masculinity instate dominance. Challenging the idea that gender or sex is destiny, and instead treating it as the raw material for agency, desire, and self-determination, was a central precept of this rearticulated politics.
The power to chart the course of gender became invested with contested meanings, not only as social power but also as the capacity to incite liberation. This capacity emerges through eroticizing gendered and sexual life. From this premise, gender proliferated beyond patriarchy's capacity to regulate and fix it, and, rather than maintaining masculinist authority through prescriptions of conduct, it turned around to become patriarchy's greatest threat through its deployment as a reconstituting technology of the self. While gender became fragile, contested, an open field of meanings, embodiments, and possibilities, forces invested in the patriarchal order retrenched and built their fortification…

Yeah, no, if someone wants to call themselves "transexual," that is none of your business. I will never apply the term to others, or any other, unless they expressly ask me to. But for myself? I am a transexual man. Because I did not trans my gender. 𝘐 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘹.

A woman just stopped us on Main St. to inform us that she lives in/around it and has regularly seen an older man with a dog following us. Upon hearing the description, we realize we have personally run into him twice. So. That's a thing that's happening, I guess.
