#Tynemouth The boiler from the wrecked S.S. Sjovik Boiler on Tynemouth Longsands, photographed on this day 25th September 2014. Swedish cargo ship built in Sunderland in 1884 by L Thompson & Sons Ltd. 19 October 1916 hit a German mine off the Tyne.

#WhitleyBay On this day 11th September 2011 the Spanish City Dome was open as part of Heritage Open Days. This was before any restoration works took place and the dome itself had an added floor.

#Tynemouth Photographed on this day 10th September 2004 a Charity Collection Bomb at Park Hotel Tynemouth. The casing originates from a 2,000-lb unexploded German bomb dropped during an air raid in April 1941 near Longsands Beach.

I'm in Whitley Bay and it is absolutely lush. Was going to go for a quick walk before conference opening night drinks but got completely seduced and stayed paddling till it got dark. The North East is absolutely gorgeous.

A view from the beach in Whitley Bay looking north to St Mary's Lighthouse (which apparently is where the Lighthouse Family got their name (??). There are clouds with a patch of blue and the bright green seaweed-covered rocks are casting a shadow over the pale yellow sand.
