Second illustration from Cynthia Sheppard’s course at Smarter Artschool. The focus was on showing the story through characters interactions. I struggled a lot with ideas for the second part of the course, but I like what I came up with.

A grim illustration showing us a mysterious place. Children are standing in line, their heads bowed, l their parents behind them, holding them tensely. A weird old creature covered in a mix of rugs and jewelry, slowly goes by, gesturing towards one of them, a girl, marking their choice with creepy white hand, decorated with many bracelets. The girl is the only one looking at the creature, her face is tense but not scared.

✦ Trading Breath for Blood ✦ [Art from 2024 - My dnd oc, Lich Zeno of Netheril]

Repost of a Waist up digital painting of my dnd character Zeno of Netheril, who is a young-looking human man with short dark-blond bangs and a long mullet, pale veiny skin and two dots tattooed below eyes that glow with light blue magic. His sternum is cracked open and his chest cavity is empty. The moment depicted in this piece is his first "breath" as a Lich: he undergone the gruesome trasformation that left him 4 days in a coma and for that time his body was laid on a stone altar, covered by a tapestry from his Enclave, guarded by two Will-o'-wisps. Now he finally woke up,undead, undying... and no longer needing to breathe at all.

Thank you! While painting this I decided that (1)horses ARE just a tad creepy, (2)I should paint them more often!

I know everyone are just as tired as me after the past several years (esp last one). We don’t want fire, destruction or any more life changing events that would make us stronger. So my fire horse is more of a celestial fire, giving hope, strength and resilience 💜 I hope we can get through this.

For book 3 and wrapping up my Mistborn fanart series: a portrait of Elend that I've always wanted to do 👓🖤 First challenge of the year done 📚 #art #fantasyart #mistborn #cosmere

*A black and white portrait of a white man with light stubble and short, wavy hair. He has a confident expression and his clothing resembles of 19th century military princes.

Ahaha and when AD asks you to make revisions and they actually make the illo better? :DD pisses me off so much!

Blue Prince maybe? Haven’t tried it myself yet, but I’ve heard a lot and can’t wait to be able to play. I also enjoyed Chants of Sennaar SO much!

000

Officially my favorite art of the set 😍

0263

I’ll be looking forward to what you make!

Especially for authors like Sanderson, who have so many details. If not for @juliametzgerart.bsky.social help I’d made some crude mistakes in this one too! But it was a cool and useful exercises

120

Ahah that’s a bit silly but I have another Jasnah in the process ) overall painting book stuff without an AD is extremely stressful for me because my memory for book details is not that good and I’m super worried to paint something wrong (and be eaten by fans :DD).

100

Thank you 💜 we discussed relationships between characters and environment in terms of helping the narrative on the course, so it definitely was a huge help

Thank you! I’m trying hard to find my way between working on the details but not overdoing it :DD

120

Thank you! Likewise, it was a pleasure, and I loved all your works from the course!

000

Well 3D models or real life head models are different thing entirely! There is nothing wrong with simplifying a thing to help study it, but this thing pretends to do studying for you. So even if it was good in it, what’s the point!

100

Uuggghhh that would be even worse but also kinda weird

000

Ahaha thank you! I was a bit worried that whatever she’s doing is a bit weird :DD but I like it so it stayed

100

Agree! But also what you’d want it for is to understand planes better and it’s anyway better achieved in the process… so there is like zero point

Really, why would anyone analyze planes themselves? Not like it’s a useful exercise that helps you get better in the process, is it?

5190

Thank you! I worked a lot on this, we made so many sketches on the course

My first illustration from Cynthia Sheppard’s course in Smarter Artschool I have two more still cooking :3 The course was a blast! Cynthia is a fantastic teacher and a very empathetic person. I loved everything: the info, the approach, the feedback sessions. So yeah, highly recommended!

This year summary! It did had its challenges, but it wasn’t too bad. I made two more traditional paintings, so at least I’m crawling in the right direction. Next year I hope to focus on faces and creatures. And do some more traditional ofc, but life isn’t helping.

I think the painted version of this drawing turned out okay. 👉👈This was done in watercolors, with graphite, gouache and chalk pastel finishing touches.
