Academia can feel very pointless during israel's genocide on Palestine and yet another US-backed imperialist onslaught on Iran – but reading the words of others is a reminder that each of us are not alone. And as Nora reminds us, hopefully we are in the "before of the revolution"

We sometimes talk about how “good” or “helpful” migrants are when responding to racist politics. These sentiments might be well meaning but they just feed the idea that our worth as people is conditional on our usefulness. But we shouldn’t need to be hardworking or successful to be free from racism.

Great workshop on 'The Juridification of Justice' @lauterpachtcentre.bsky.social (@torkrever.bsky.social & @norajaber.bsky.social). I argued that our concern should not be the degree to which justice becomes 'juridified', but which 'jus' –which understanding of law– guides our visions of justice.

Today’s topic for my course ‘Law and Power in the Muslim World’ is on the coloniality of international law. I hope that one day this subject becomes outdated - a thing of a darker past. Today colonialism is alive and well and law’s entanglements with it are blatant.
