Dukem is closing on U Street November 7th after nearly 30 years (25 years as a full service restaurant). 1st place I had Ethiopian food in DC in 2005 or so. There was a surge of viral interest in them in 2024 after daughter posted a TikTok about their struggles

People are confusing Creative Commons licensing with the right to make money off an asset without recompense or attribution and nope. Many specifically include non commercial use. The minimum is usually attribution, although public domain is possible.

It's often jarring to the European mind how much they have contracted out more critical government services than the US has in some areas. Public transportation is another. Very few of the largest cities don't use city or public employees for service provision. Not Veolia/Keolis whatever

I'd be nicer about DC govt if it didn't fail at the basic service provision. They let tree boxes get overgrown, the street cleaning in my neighborhood only actually happens if you contact your CM, DESPITE BEING NEXT TO THE DPW LOT THAT HOLDS THE EQUIPMENT! So much basic stuff had fallen apart.

The only way we're getting out of this without significant cuts would have been to turn up the building housing (DC has done better than any blue city north of us) 5 years ago but the second best is probably now. People who use fewer services but pay in more, like 20 years ago.

The reviews for Transport Fever 3 are mixed and MIXED. Will wait a bit before looking at it again. I admit I don't love TF2 but I also didn't give or much attention until recently. City Skylines 2 is still half baked many years later.

I wasn't really the biggest fan of Dandelion. It goes a little softer than I generally enjoy. I like Choosin Texas, it's a toe tapper. The previous albums were more my speed. And I don't need to tear her down to build up which songs & who I like more.
