DoorDash walked into a buzzsaw of criticism and boycotts in D.C. this summer when it backed a Republican bill that would restrict when city lawmakers can impose new taxes and fees. The delivery company is now walking back that bill: www.washingtonsun.com/metro/doorda...

Glad to see this on track for implementation next year. The ANC and neighborhood residents and businesses provided feedback from 2023-24 (and presumably beyond) to make this bus priority lane better. The neighborhood (represented thru its ANC) overwhelmingly supports bus priority lanes here on U St.

At some point in 2027 after the Roberta Flack Circle (not official yet name for the new ellipse coming in front of Potomac Ave Metro) project is complete in late January, DDOT will extend the Pennsylvania Ave SE bike lanes to Barney Circle (stopping just past the McDs).

Looks like DDOT posted some updates (see the concept map) for the U Street bus lanes coming in 2027. Parking/drop off/loading will still generally remain but the right traffic lane in each direction will be a bus lane. Not sure if rush hour only or 24/7.

Congrats to 15 years to a great DC bar, Boundary Stone. The anniversary German-style schwarzbier Fünfzhen brewed by Atlas is incredible ($8 draft pints, $15 6 packs). Solid cinnamon roll for brunch.

(Arguably) DC’s first park (non National Mall) drinking area for Tommy’s Tacos at Tanner Park in Eckington. Looks like they have a cover if it rains

Here’s what the RFK Master Plan says about the new Gold Line. I think I read elsewhere the plan was 3 minute headways on gamedays (20 busses an hour), 5-7 other times, but anyone else have details? What’s the current headways on the D20 and D2X?

The idea that there are MIDDLE SCHOOLS going “no homework” in the name of equity pisses me off. The soft bigotry of low expectations. And then we see the remnants of kids being unprepared once they arrive in college. No one ever taught you to study. You’ve never had to learn time management.

Checked out Lllamas’ Corner on Barracks Row in former Souk. Had a solid chicken pesto panini (tho a bit pricey) and - although I only recently started drinking coffee - best tasting Americano I’ve ever had. Originally opened in Baltimore in 2023

as with all “oldest bar” claims, there are caveats: - the original Willard was a combination on several buildings on the site (pictured) - the bar at the original Willard wasn’t called the Round Robin, and was in the lobby - the present hotel was built in 1901 - it was closed from 1968-1986

This was so disappointing. We were seated outside, & despite asking the bartender to have our orders taken, the waiter ghosted the table for 40 minutes. By the time we were able to flag them down, we resigned ourselves to getting a single beer and moving elsewhere. The bar was full, but not packed.

Finally made it to 42 year old Perry’s in Adams Morgan. The HH is stellar as advertised (sadly threat of rain closed the roof - so I got last seat at bar at 5:25p, but there’s standing area/ledge behind). The $12 shrimp katsu burger is incredible ($7 off)
