Au sein de l'UE, parmi les démocraties "longues", prenons d'abord celles qui datent de 1945 (au moins) et membres de l'UE avant 1981. Dans cette classe il n'y a qu'un seul pays qui autorise la police à tirer sur la foule lors des protestations.

The term “remigration” is associated with the extreme right and only came into widespread usage in 2023-4. Even Germany’s AfD avoided using the term in 2024 for fear of scaring away voters. Today the US government is celebrating the “victories” it’s racked up in the “ethnic cleansing” column.

It's remarkable (in a very good way) to see an elected member of the Democratic Party saying this. For decades, the Party has treated public higher education as a jobs training program, not a site for cultivating democratic habits of mind. I deeply hope that things are changing.
