Let’s be honest. The 8 to 10 percent of voters in the middle who are going to decide this election, when they hear stuff about boys in girls’ sports, they don’t even know what you’re talking about. This never happened in their communities, and they’ve been hearing about it for so many years, and so many other people have been accused of it. What Republicans are talking about is just not what the swing voter is really interested in.

My victimization never went to police, but had other kinds of investigation in shared social circles. I repressed it for eight months. My recollections have continued to change a little over the last eight years. Got o support. My case eventually went to one of my abuser's friends, who quashed it.

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

It did! As someone who is nonbinary and genderfluid, I've learned the head way that my reporting of victimization can come across very differently. But the people who want to look the other way at sexual violence still do so if they read me as male.
