It might not stop the bullying, but it will turn it into a fight. Which is progress.

AI: oh, you think you got us, eh? How'd you like this?! Now no one will understand what you mean! Everyone else: oh, he got autocorrected. Sucks for him, but his point still stands. AI: CURSES!

Just for fun, I thought I'd put here the final two pages of 'Galley Slave', a 1957 short story by Isaac Asimov. It may possibly have some relevance to certain social media posts about the desirability of having certain books written by AI. #AI #BookBluesky

I missed it the first time around, but playing the modern version, I see how the original definitely would have claimed me as a child.

This question is rhetorical, but I actually know this: straight up is the hardest direction for Kurt, since it's orthogonal to the Van Allen radiation belts, but he can still manage 2 km vertically if he pushes himself. I also know the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow, *ladies*.

Thinking about smell research makes me boggle a little bit. Vision and hearing can be quantified down to wavelengths, but for smell and taste, you need an actual molecule to trigger the reaction. It's not impossible to quantifiy, but it's the difference in mass between an atom and a photon.

The proto-Effin’ Birds was my Tumblr “Swear Trek”. It opened a lot of doors for me and I wouldn’t be where I am today without it. I don’t have plans to revive it (one daily comic is enough work), just wanted to thank it for getting me here on this 60th anniversary of Star Trek.

This is not a hot take, but I think one of the big failings of our economic system is sole reliance on financials to keep score. If it makes more money, it's better. If it costs more money, it's worse. It doesn't account for anything else, like reputation, or longevity.

To be fair, most of what Granny did didn't look like magic either. She was just too stubborn to bend, and was forced to use the flashy stuff more and more as she came up against those who required more than headology to deal with.

I see how you got there, but I respectfully disagree. Dolly's gifts to the world are the kind that don't require her presence to continue. This is not just words, my understanding is she put a lot of effort into trust funds and the like to make sure her charities persist after her passing.
