I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this, and can confirm, this is worth preordering! - v cool and weird - Themes - sex is good, but want to get back-to-back smacked with a meme and then uppercut with a comedy bit suddenly having deep emotional significance? - obviously you do - great cat names

A Publisher's Marketplace new deal announcement on a background with a very unsubtle rainbow and pair of ice skates!

THE OFFSEASON
By Freya Marske
Imprint: Putnam
Sunday Times-bestselling author Freya Marske's THE OFFSEASON, her first contemporary queer sports romance, pitched as for fans of HEATED RIVALRY and YURI ON ICE, in which a former figure skater who walked away from the sport returns home, where reconnecting with his infuriatingly gorgeous childhood rival, now the current national champion, reignites his passion for the ice-and more, to Ruoxi Chen at Putnam, in a two-book deal, for publication in summer 2027 (NA).

“And for adults, the world of fantasy books returns to us the great words of power which, in order to be tamed, we have excised from our adult vocabularies. These words are the pornography of innocence, words which adults no longer use with other adults, and so we laugh at them and consign them to the nursery, fear masking as cynicism. These are the words that were forged in the earth, air, fire, and water of human existence, and the words are:

“Love. Hate. Good. Evil. Courage. Honor. Truth.

Screenwriting pro-tip: put a specific date in your script so that once a year the internet meme machine will promote your movie for free. (It helps if the rest of your script is as brilliant as Hot Fuzz, Miss Congeniality, or Mean Girls)
HOT FUZZ:
"When's your birthday?"
