With my relatively little time for video games I've been slowly working through some old RPGs I'd never gotten to. I'm about three hours into Crisis Core and, uh, when does this get good? Does it? It really feels like it has all the bad parts of late 2000s games and not really much of the good...

I think sometimes the bad guys just win because the good guys are tired. It feels like being the bad guy takes a lot less energy. Bad guys can force and bully and extort to get what they want and the good guys are like "I kinda just wanna move on, here's a gift please leave me be." It's bleak.

My partner doesn't like video games like... at all. For my b-day today they are going to actually play games with me, which I feel is one of the best gifts they could get. It means a lot. Also I put together a 65 slide PowerPoint giving them games to pick from which was a gift I gave myself.

I went out to eat with my partner's family for her dad's birthday and I spilled a bunch of the juice from her pot roast on my shirt and no one said anything and I think that's how you make someone feel welcome.
