Mary Golda Ross is the first-known #NativeAmerican female engineer & a key pioneer of the US Space Race. #WorldSpaceWeek🚀 A citizen of the Cherokee Nation, she spent >3 decades performing aerospace design & engineering work laying the groundwork for modern interplanetary exploration. #WomenInSTEM 🧵
A black-and-white, profile-angle photograph of Mary Golda Ross (1908–2008), the first known Native American female engineer and a key pioneer of the American Space Race, working at her drafting table. Seated and facing left, Ross rests her forearms on a large drafting surface covered in technical drawings and mathematical graphs. She holds a pencil in her right hand and holds up a sheet of paper with her left, seemingly reviewing complex flight paths or rocket designs. She wears a dark, short-sleeved blouse featuring a light-colored collar, a wrist watch on her left arm, and prominent rounded earrings. Her dark hair is styled neatly away from her face, which carries an expression of quiet focus and intellect. Scattered across the workspace are precision drafting tools, including rulers, a t-square, a technical compass, and an ink well, while a mechanical drafting arm anchors the foreground. The plain paneled walls create a minimalist office environment. The overall mood is serious and professional, highlighting a foundational Indigenous woman in mid-century aerospace engineering.

Angus Taylor first claimed his migration policy was PBO-costed. Now he says he can’t cost it because Labor’s policy (released a month before his)—“keeps changing.”🤦‍♂️ This is complete rubbish. LNP lies only get harder to swallow under Angus.

Angus then tried to argue the tax he’s losing from 750K migrants will be made up bringing in just 100K new migrants. Says the graph shown is incomplete. Speers had to remind him that it’s taken from his (virtually empty) policy sheet. Nothing adds up.

Suella Braverman and her publisher appear to have made the same fundamental error that Boris Johnson, Jacob Rees-Mogg and their publishers made before their books likewise bombed. It’s very simple: the sort of people who like Braverman, Johnson and Rees-Mogg are not the sort of people who buy books.
