what do you MEAN the developers of Cookie's Bustle contacted every person who registered their copy by mail 25 years ago and invited them to a secret Cookie's Bustle party with live music and merch???

That's what helped me! I had just replayed Zero Mission and I was like "I wonder if this will stay fresh in my mind long enough to be able to navigate through the original" so I put it to the test hah

I should hook up my NES and play the actual cart for the authentic experience sometime now that I can confidently beat it. I've actually had it since I was a kid, but that being my first impression delayed me getting into the series for many years lol.

I think I'm having the same arc with Metroid 1 as I once did with Zelda 2, which is that I've now played it enough times to generally know my way around and where the cryptic stuff is that I can look past its bullshit and just actually enjoy playing it

Super Mario Sunshine is surprisingly more realistic than later Mario games in one specific aspect: here, Mario will start drowning if he hangs on to a ledge in such a way that water is flowing into his nose and mouth, as one would in real life.

Observe Mario holding on to a ledge that water is flowing over in Super Mario Galaxy (left) and Super Mario Odyssey (right). If realistic physics applied, he should start drowning since his nostrils and mouth are covered by water flowing into them.
However, in these games the air depletion/drowning state is tied to the swimming animation. As long as Mario is not visibly swimming, he cannot be drowning even if he is covered by water.
In Super Mario Sunshine, however, air depletion is decoupled from swimming as an action, allowing Mario to realistically start drowning in this situation (note him flashing red and his air meter depleting).
However, he is saved by Sunshine's (also unique among 3D Mario platformers) ledge tiredness mechanic. After hanging on for 20 seconds, Mario will let go. This is also realistic, since why would he let himself drown?

I figure this is also connected to me falling out of drawing for several months, but I noticed I started disliking all the stuff I have drawn too. Like, I'll go to repost an old drawing from just last year or something and I look at it and go, "...ehhh, maybe not..." It embarrasses me now

Never doing commissions again man, from either side of the transaction. Not worth it, it's just me creating unnecessary anxiety for myself every single time.

Niko @nikoanesti.newgrounds.com · 02/10/2026

What's the appropriate amount of time to wait until you contact somebody about a commission you paid them for up front and just never heard back about? Cuz I have two different outstanding orders from early on this year that I just never got and paid a couple hundred bucks for. 😬

Saw an older man wearing a t-shirt with Tails from Sonic on it. It just kind of stunlocked me for a second, I realized I don't think I've ever seen anyone that old who would even know about Sonic, much less be enough of a fan to wear a shirt.
