Really wasn’t expecting this. It was tough competition!

Patcon today! Here’s my two entries. -The Fukuoka Nu Gundam I intentionally didn’t put extra accessories on because I wanted it to match the actual statue & posed it based it off my photos. It’s in the straight build Gunpla category. -The Liger Zero Panzer is in the anime mecha non-Gundam category

Finally found something I wanted to put this sticker I’ve had for a long time. It’s definitely a relic from a past era of anime fandom in the US. I think I got it at one Otakon in the early 00s.

Jumping on this one as well. There’s quite a few more that I love, but for the shaping who I am, this has to be the biggest set. The top row is especially pertinent. You could change it to manga and the only difference would be it’d be the Origin version of MSG.

For some reason I thought this was the finale. Six more months for the real final volume. Still, enjoyed this volume and looking forward to the epilogue

I’m not sure if I’m ready to read the finale. This has been a hell of a ride. It doesn’t replace Origin as my favorite Gundam manga, but it’s an extremely close second. I’ve got some great memories with friends associated with this work.

I expected high level picture quality on the Akira 4K remaster, but it also sounded incredible. If you have the chance, go see this in a theater during this run.

I was talking to some friends about Satoshi Kon and Paprika yesterday so I decided to double check the release date. Turns out Sept. 2 is the 20th anniversary of it premiering at Venice. I think got a rewatch in my future. (Nov 25 is when it hit theaters in Japan) It does not feel that old.

I hope this horrible week teaches us one thing: you will be remembered and loved infinitely more for moments of kindness, friendship, and joy than for power, dominance, or bullying. you have the choice for what sort of life you want to live. make the right one.

I once saw a comment that basically said "Peter Cullen could walk down the street, say he needed our help in the voice of Optimus Prime and countless members of a generation would, without any questions, grab whatever gear they carry and follow him on a mission."

Picking a favorite bit by Tim Curry is pretty tough. Even off the top of my head I think of stuff like Skullmaster in Mighty Max and King Chicken in Duckman. To call those the tip of a mighty iceberg would still be an understatement. (Cont)

Ok, finally finished a build for the first time in awhile. Clear orange Haropla I grabbed at the Gundam Base pop up last week. I did use a metallic red marker for the eyes, but otherwise it was a quick snap build. And there’s been some progress MG Barbatos Lupus too.

(1/2) I bought the English version of the Art of Samurai Champloo book at a con a bunch of years ago because a vendor was offloading stock for cheap (probably $20-$25?) Two weeks ago I saw a vendor at Otakon selling one for $500 and it was gone by the end of the weekend. (cont.)

I enjoyed renting this game as a kid, but part of what made me seek out owning a copy as an adult was learning how many talented people who worked on other mecha/anime projects also did stuff for Xardion. And tonight I finally completed a playthrough of my own copy.

With today being the actual day "There Will Come Soft Rains" by Ray Bradbury takes place, I was going to share the haunting Soviet adaptation – only to find that version takes place later this year on December 31. That should be a fun way to welcome the new year.

Excerpt from the beginning of There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury which contains the line "Today is August 4, 2026"
