The students I'm currently teaching (late teens) are all watching, and one of them said how the viewing figures are like how 'it used to be'. They held off from saying 'in the olden days'!

Fortunate to be at this this evening at IWM North, really beautiful piece of collaboration. Felt like it could become a ballet, takes you on a journey through spoken word, music, song and resonates with the times we are living through.

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

Burnham really didn’t help with his comments. I really question ‘Manchesterism’. But yes, my dad is 82. We‘ll still be Blues. The madness of being a football fan. Been thinking of Bury FC and what they went through. Then curveballs like would Arteta be at Arsenal if not Pep’s Asst.

I was prepared to be left holding a pumpkin one day, but this is a whole other level. I feel sorry for fans, the ordinary staff and the players. They’ve all been used.

Ha! Thank you. Trust me I don’t enjoy hearing them on phone ins. My dad is in his 80’s and he‘s gutted. My kids don’t know what to feel. I honestly just hope the club still exists and the owners go, but how that happens I don’t know.

Not all of us I can assure you! Grateful to have voices like Simon Hattenstone and David Mooney also out there expressing anger at the owners for their contempt.

Completely. My youngest has just said how he saved up to buy the new Away shirt and now he feels why? I don't want it to drag on indefinitely, what are we meant to feel this season?I always feared being left holding a pumpkin when they took over, but not a complete existential nightmare.

Thanks for this Simon. My dad has supported them since the 1960's, I've been going since the 80's and my kids now go. My eldest is so upset and says is all just fake then? I'm glad to have your voice that represents how a lot of us feel. We're not all shouty phone ins. I'm also at the Anger stage!
