Finished “The Crusader Storm” flying back from Gamescom, and it’s a very good book. Highly recommended, could use more maps. Love to be reminded about this jerkwad, too.

Similar - for anything that looks suspicious now I'm looking the person writing the email up on Linkedin or similar to see if they've got an established and longstanding web presence. It doesn't guarantee that they're not trying to con me, but it helps a bit.

You're probably aware of my previous book The Mongol Storm which covers much of the thirteenth century. I've got some other projects in the pipeline which need to be completed first but I am hoping to write a new "Storm" for the 14th century, possibly with the title The Ottoman Storm.

(3/3) This wasn't the famous fez (this came later) and it isn't clear what they looked like, but the Mongols also liked Turkish hats and demanded them in their tribute payments. (The above image is later) If you'd like to find out more about the Crusades ⬇️

(2/3) So many crusaders returned wearing Turkish hats that a regional French council tried to ban them. The Knights Templar also wore felt hats and fought with Turkish maces. By the 13thC, Turkish hats were so popular they were exported in bulk as far away as England.

The Crusaders' love of Turkish hats When you imagine the first crusaders returning from the Holy Land, do you imagine them wearing felt Turkish hats? No? Well you should. (1/3)
