This is super interesting. Rev. Samuel Marsden, who is credited as the person who brought Merino to England (he was a parson at Botany Bay) was the curate at the church my wife is now a vicar in. Until recently there was also a small statue to him in Horsforth. @histassoc.bsky.social TH204

Announcing our first keynote speaker for HA Conference 2027 is the historian, Helen Castor! She is an award-winning historian of the medieval and Tudor period. Her most recent book 'The Eagle and the Hart: The Tragedy of Richard II and Henry IV' was shortlisted for the Wolfson History Prize 2025.
